My addiction to insanely simple DIYs continues.
I threw this together today and thought I'd share:)
1. Take a long strip of fabric (preferably some type of stretchy fabric) 2. Position the middle of the fabric strip at the base of your neck 3. Cross once! 4. Cross twice! 5. Tie ends together at the back!
I wanted mine to be an easy throw-on every time, so I also just hand-stitched a few stiched through the criss-cross and the knot to keep it from coming undone.
SO easy, right?

Awesome!

So cute! How do you do your messy updo? I'd love to know!

Zildy, I promise you it's nothing even remotely hard! I basically just grab my hair and tie it with an elastic with a few times is all!

Probably a stupid question...where did you get that fabric? I checked Michael's but didn't really see anything stretchy!
Posted by: Katherine | June 27, 2012 at 09:25 PM
Not a stupid question at all, Katherine! The fabric that I used is actually a vintage fabric I thrifted so I'm willing to guess you probably won't find that exact fabric.
I've found Michael's to be disapointing with fabric. Sometimes Hobby Lobby's (if there's one nearby!) will have a better selection, but my favorite places to get good fabric are at locally owned fabric stores (the old women who tend to work in those places know everything there is to know and are always super helpful!). Sometimes to you just have to ask around to find a good fabric store.
Good luck, and hope that helps a bit! :)

Thanks so much! I like Hobby Lobby better too! haha
I'll have to do some looking around, they do know their stuff!
Thanks again! =)

So I love these types of things. I just recently cut off 12 inches of my hair and donated it. Now I don't know if this type of headband would look good with my short hair. Any suggestions??

That's so great of you, Angie! I donated my hair a few times but never quite that much!
I actually think that possibly doing this with a fabric that wasn't so thick (I think this was like an inch and a half big or maybe 2?) it might even be cute with short hair, but almost all headbands look really cute with short hair - my sister has a pixi cut and I always love when she wears headbands:)

really cute! but I'm confused, it looks like you twisted the top of the fabric

I'm going to give it a try with some strips from my boyfriend's old t-shirts.... Thanks for such a simple idea.

Could you use this same concept for a bandeau but sew up the back?
