This amazing little fawn (I named Daphne) came into our lives this week. Her mother had been hit by a car and she was standing in the middle of the road with cars flying by her when my dad stopped and grabbed her. She was beyond sweet. My family has quite a bit of experience rehabing "wild" animals and so we quickly got to work trying to nurse her back to health. Feeding her goats milk every few hours, giving her electrolytes and keeping her good and warm while she slept. Unfortunantly, she still went downhill and my mom knew she needed more than any of us could give her, so my parents took her to a wild animal rescue. They're very confident they'll have to problem getting her on her feet again, unfortunately she won't be able to come back to us.
It's good though. The rescue has 15 other orphaned fawns they're raising, and at the end of the summer they'll all be released together into a state park where they'll be far away from cars and hunting. I know it's selfish of me to wish we could get her back, but I just remind myself that she'll be so much better off and so much happier with her own kind!

Oh, she is so beautiful! I am glad you guys saved her and brought her to a new home. :)

You're like Audrey Hepburn! I am so insanely jealous. I would love to hold a baby fawn. I'm so glad it's going to be okay :)
