I spotted some super cute leaf shaped trivets in the newest Martha Stewat and was pretty smitten with the idea! The thing is... we don't really have a need for trivets. We don't even really sit at the table all that much and I knew they'd never get used. So I though, what about coasters? With thin cork you can basically cut out any shape you want and could even customize a set for every season - sold!
They're super simple to make, all you need is a bit of thin cork (I used this kind). You can either trace a leaf (or cut out) onto the back side or just free hand draw a leaf shape and then carefully cut out with an exacto or utility knife. If you have any trouble with the the smaller sections ripping you can usually just use a dab of glue on the back side and theyre good as new.
I'm in love them! Wouldn't they look adorable for the table on Thanksgiving?
